  • While Edwards is going to be courted more than the head cheerleader before Prom, and would be an asset to either Hillary or Obama as VP, personally, I think his most effective position in the new Dem WH would be as Attorney General.

Imagine the reform within the Justice Dept, and how real oversight and prosecution could clean up the criminal excesses of the Bush administration, and return some integrity and teeth to Justice!

  • Claims about posters not backed up with evidence = lies.

I don't think my views on Gaza are all that controversial amongst the human race in general, but as I said, save your anti-semitic rants for MJs forum.

Face it, 'Boris,' you lied about me in a weak effort to smear Obama. If you think this is in error, please produce some evidence.

You also plagiarized one of Josh's posts.

Why should we have to put up with a stinky troll who is alying plagiarist?

  • 'Boris,' please try to keep your anti-semitic rants confined to MJ's posts.

More to the point here, I've never said anywhere at TPM cafe who I am 'for' in this election, so basically, you are trying to use my name in a lie to smear Obama.

Just another example of your lowliness.

It's not going to work, because, to paraphrase the Bard:

A troll, by any other name, still stinks.

  • Interesting comment on pirates, Howard--it reminds me of this story from St. Augustine:

St. Augustine tells the story of a pirate captured by Alexander the Great, who asked him, "how he dares molest the sea.""How dare you molest the whole world?" the pirate replied: "Because I do it with a little ship only, I am called a thief; you, doing it with a great navy, are called an Emperor."

Incidentally, this story is the preface to Noam Chomsky's book Pirates and Emperors, Old and New: International Terrorism in the Real World

  • Kick the insurance companies out of the health care business.

The goalposts have already been moved, so to speak, as the HMO concept has been institutionalized--despite the facts on the ground, which counter every one of the efficiency arguments that the pundits and lobbyists broke out during the late 80s to rationalize their radical 'for profit' plans in the health care industry.

  • lh25, I appreciated your earlier comment, but this is straight up propaganda; Israel clearly targeted non-Hezbollah, non-military targets, for example, the oil refinery bombing that caused a major environmental catastrophe in Mediterranean.

While I feel for the children of Sderot, my sympathy is proportionate to the damage done to either side. While a homemade rocket may well cause some damage, I'd certainly rather get hit by a Qassam than a phosphorus bomb, like this 8-year old boy from Sidon.

So, your talk about hitting civilian infrastructure and population is more than a wee bit hypocritical.

And, sorry, but the collective punishment excuse wasn't bought by the Geneva Convention in 1949, so it's not being bought now. The original Israeli government is a signatory to the conventions, so the current regime is blackening the Israeli legacy with its outlaw tactics.

  • The simple answer comes from the UN Geneva Conference held on July 16, 1999, where Israel was found to be responsible for upholding the Fourth Geneva Convention within the Occupied Territories;

    5. The participants reaffirmed the existing international consensus on the de jure applicability of the Fourth Geneva Convention to the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Jerusalem, in accordance with relevant General Assembly and Security Council resolutions. They also called upon Israel, the occupying Power, to fully comply with the provisions of the Convention. Furthermore, the participants recalled that the Fourth Geneva Convention, as an instrument of international humanitarian law, was applicable, regardless of national legislation of Israel, which is a High Contracting Party to the Convention.

  • The 'Syrian Nuclear facility' strike was a sham--the reason it didn't receive any attention, at least in the US, is that the 'Israeli intelligence' was stovepiped directly to Cheney, who refused to let any of the 16 legitimate US intelligence agencies vet it--yellowcake from Niger, anyone?

Dude, it's a war crime whether or not they 'warned Hamas.'
